Lisk Chain to shut down on Oct. 31 as Lisk offers optional migration path to Celo

Lisk said it is changing course and will focus on building a modern treasury operations platform for finance teams. As part of that shift, the Ethereum layer-2 network’s Lisk Chain will officially shut down on Oct. 31, though the network will continue operating normally until that date. Lisk also said projects currently deployed on the chain can choose to migrate to Celo through an available transition path. The company stressed that the move is optional rather than mandatory, leaving each team to decide based on its own product needs, user base, and technical considerations. The update was disclosed in a post published by Lisk on X.

Lisk to shut down Lisk Chain and wind down DAO as it pivots to a corporate treasury platform

Lisk said it is abandoning its legacy blockchain-focused structure and repositioning itself as a modern treasury operations platform for corporate finance teams. Founder Max Kordek announced on Aug. 25 that the company will focus on accounts, payments and approval workflows, targeting businesses that operate across multiple entities and jurisdictions while using both fiat and stablecoins. Eligible companies already have access to an Early Access version of the platform. The company said the product currently supports unified management of bank and stablecoin accounts, bank transfers, stablecoin payments and collections, and role-based payment approvals. It also plans to expand into corporate cards, non-custodial treasury management and payroll integrations. As part of the shift, Lisk Chain will shut down on Oct. 31, 2026. Lisk said it has worked with the Celo team to provide a migration path for onchain dApps, developers and projects. It also proposed winding down Lisk DAO, including burning 100 million LSK from the DAO treasury, cutting total supply from 400 million to 300 million, removing staking penalties and gradually shutting governance infrastructure. LSK will be repositioned as a loyalty token for the new platform, with future use in rewards and fee payments.
